Description
Senate supported a specialist restoration contractor regarding the claim for additional work, extended time, and unforeseen costs that were not accounted for in the contractor’s original order.
Challenge
One of the key issues was that the baseline programme had not been developed in accordance with the contract and did not outline the critical path. This made it difficult for the contractor to justify the additional time required and prove the actual causes of the delay.
Goal
Senate Consulting was engaged to analyse the delay and establish a clear link between the relevant events and their impact on the project's timeline. To achieve this, Senate:
- Developed a comprehensive programme that accurately reflected the project's critical path.
- identified and demonstrated the direct time and sequence impact of late instructions, COVID-19 disruptions, and unforeseen foundation issues on the contractor's ability to complete the work as planned.
- Identify the actions to mitigate the programme delay and its effectiveness.
- Provided clear, evidence-based justification for the extension of time claim and produced a prolongation report with a complete breakdown.
Outcome
Senate Consulting successfully delivered an as-built programme and a detailed prolongation report, fully substantiating the contractor's entitlement to additional time beyond the contract period. The report provided a strong evidential basis to support the contractor's position, helping to resolve the dispute effectively between both parties.
